3 Soft Ways to Plan Your Month If You Hate Planning
Gentle monthly planning tips for the planner-averse and easily overwhelmed.

Let's be honest, monthly planning can feel like a lot. Especially when you're someone for whom all of the regular planning tools don't seem to work for. Endless goals, so many steps, and endless pressure to map out my next 30 days, 6 months, or the rest of my life. The whole thing can be straight up daunting.
I used to treat the whole experience like a threat, until I learned to treat it like a ritual. It's more than possible to plan softly, without all of the pressures that come with traditional planning. Here are 3 key strategies that worked for me.
If that’s you? This is your permission slip.
Because yes — you can still plan. Softly. Without spiraling. Without turning it into a performance review you didn’t sign up for.
Here are 3 gentle ways to approach your month when you want structure that actually feels like support.
☁️ 1. Start with the feeling, not the doing
Ask yourself:
“By the end of this month, I want to feel more ___.”
Maybe it’s:
Clear
Rested
Grounded
Unbothered
Lit up
Once you know the feeling, you can work backwards from there.
If your word is “clear”:
Unsubscribe from emails you never open
Pick one main focus — not five
Start a “done list” to actually see your progress
It doesn’t have to be deep. It just has to be honest.
✍🏾 2. Set one “sacred yes” and one “non-negotiable no”
Not a whole goal list. Just two intentions to hold you down.
Your sacred yes = What you want more of
Your non-negotiable no = What you’re leaving behind
Example:
Sacred yes: Walks without your phone
Non-negotiable no: Overworking past 7pm
Write them at the top of your planner. Let them anchor you when the month gets loud.
🌸 3. Go week by week, not all at once
Trying to map out the next 30 days perfectly? That’s a setup.
Try this instead:
Plan your first week. Then check in every 7 days.
One week = sustainable.
Four weeks = something you build into.
🕊️ You’re Not Failing — You’re Figuring It Out
This season doesn’t need a spreadsheet.
It needs rhythm. A pulse. A plan that loves you back.
And that’s exactly what the Vision Notes 30 Day Goal Setting Planner was made for — clear structure without the pressure, soft systems that let you evolve, and space to show up as you are.
Because growth doesn’t start with pressure. It starts with a plan that feels like home.
